Tobacco Museum of Kavala is a vital thematic and technological museum known for its originality in its way of presenting the significant past of Kavala, when the city (at the beginning of the 20th century) dominated on the tobacco exportation and so called “Mecca of Tobacco”.
I invite you and at the same time I trigger you off to an enchanting but also nostalgic journey to the world of tobacco. From the tobacco fields to the house yards where they arranged the tobacco leaves, to tobacco factories, where its smell gives off to this day.
The Municipal Tobacco Museum of Kavala is a thematic museum, which includes objects and records about the cultivation and production of tobacco, its agricultural and commercial process, industrial tobacco products and exhibition samples of tobacco.
The Tobacco Museum is unique, not only because it includes and exhibits the commercial process of oriental tobacco (in no other museum to be found worldwide) but because, as a technological museum, it shows the social history of Kavala and generally of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
